Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Colorado Parks and Wildlife describes State Forest as 70,932 acres of forest, peaks, alpine lakes and trails. Its camping system is open year-round, with campsites, cabins, yurts and backcountry options.[1]

CPW's statewide yurt guide specifically says State Forest's yurts and hut provide a base for activities “from hiking to stargazing to backcountry skiing.”[1]

What still needs field verification

The park is large enough that “State Forest” is not a useful telescope coordinate by itself. Forest, mountains, local lighting, road access and winter conditions vary substantially between campgrounds and lodging areas.[1]

The direct source supports overnight use and stargazing, but it does not identify one definitive astronomy pad.[1]
