Colorado Parks and Wildlife

Colorado Parks and Wildlife lists 181 campsites at Steamboat Lake State Park. During the main season, reservations are required and campsites include tent and RV options around the mountain-lake setting.[1]

In winter, CPW says the only camping option is 12 first-come, first-served spaces near the marina with electric outlets. Winter campers must be self-contained, and “NO TENT CAMPING is allowed.”[1]

What the current source does not claim

The current CPW visitor information does not advertise Steamboat Lake as a dedicated astronomy venue or list a standing telescope program. Its role in this guide is as an overnight mountain-lake base with relatively remote surroundings, not as a certified dark-sky site.[1]
