Denver Astronomical Society
The Denver Astronomical Society says Chamberlin Observatory “features its prized 1894 Alvan Clark-Saegmuller 20-inch refracting telescope.”[2]
DAS currently offers ticketed Astronomy Nights on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and selected Saturdays. These begin with an astronomy presentation and, weather permitting, continue with views through the historic refractor of objects such as the Moon, planets, stars, clusters, nebulae and galaxies.[2]
DAS also hosts a monthly Open House mini-star party on the south lawn. Those events allow visitors to meet amateur astronomers and observe through member telescopes; the observatory telescope is also used when weather permits.[2]
How to plan the visit
This is an urban observatory experience rather than a dark-sky field site. Use the DAS reservations page for ticket availability and its event calendar for the next free Open House; cloudy-night Astronomy Nights can become observatory and telescope tours instead of observing sessions.[2]
