Rocky Mountain Star Stare

RMSS calls itself “The Premier Star Party of the Rocky Mountains.” Its current homepage describes Starry Meadows as a 35-acre site outside Gardner, between the Sangre de Cristo and Wet Mountain ranges, at about 7,600 feet elevation.[2]

The organizer says the event hosts 300+ amateur and professional astronomers, family members and friends. Activities include dark-sky observing, scientific speakers, astronomy presentations, astrophotography, telescope-making activities and children's programming.[2]

Camping and observing

RMSS says Starry Meadows has space for tents, campers, trailers and RVs. Its rules require red light only after dark on the observing field and direct after-dark arrivals to a separate parking area so headlights do not disrupt observers.[3]

Next advertised event

The RMSS homepage currently advertises June 30–July 4, 2027 for the next Rocky Mountain Star Stare. Access outside organized astronomy use should not be assumed because Starry Meadows is private Colorado Springs Astronomical Society property.[4]
