Colorado Stargazing Trail
The Colorado Tourism Office lists this stop as the Lake Fork Earth & Sky Center and describes a remote setting for viewing planets, constellations and meteors. The trail points to high-elevation observing near Windy Point and to Lake City Star Fest as a major astronomy event.[2]
What the local visitor and conservation sources say
Lake City's official visitor information says the Lake Fork Earth & Sky Center, formerly known as the Slumgullion Center, is a designated International Dark Sky Park near Lake City.[3]
For 2026, the Lake Fork Valley Conservancy program listing describes guided stargazing and telescope viewing at the decommissioned Slumgullion Campground on County Road 50 near the top of Slumgullion Pass. The current dated program page lists Tuesday evenings, June 16 through August 25, from 8:30 to 10:30 pm.[3]
