National Park Service
The National Park Service invited visitors in 2026 to “Explore Wonders of the Night Sky” through its Astronomy in the Park series.[2]
Programs began at 8:30pm at the Park & Ride on Bear Lake Road with ranger interpretation, followed by telescope viewing and other astronomy activities with volunteers. NPS says participants could drop in and leave at any point during the evening.[2]
The program ended at 11pm, but NPS explicitly told participants they were welcome to stay in the park and continue viewing the night sky on their own after the organized program.[2]
2026 schedule status
The published 2026 Astronomy in the Park dates were July 17, July 18, August 7 and August 14. As of August 17, all four have passed. NPS also held a larger July Weekend of Stargazing with NASA scientists, solar observing and nighttime programs.[2]
