Colorado Stargazing Trail

The Colorado Tourism Office says Ridgway's protected lighting and remote San Juan setting make the Milky Way visible even from parts of town. The trail specifically points to yards and balconies with lights off and to Ridgway Athletic Park's fields, and suggests timing a visit for major meteor showers.[2]

Ridgway's visitor center

Ridgway's official visitor site says, “Our town is an International Dark Sky Community.”[3]

Its current stargazing guidance recommends clear moonless nights and identifies Top of the Pines and Frontier Park as locations with broad sky views. The visitor bureau also publishes a one-night stargazing itinerary and recommends allowing enough darkness after sunset or before sunrise for useful observing.[3]
