Colorado Stargazing Trail
The Colorado Tourism Office describes Chimney Rock as a place where Puebloan archaeology and the night sky meet. Its trail page highlights Night Sky Archaeoastronomy Programs and says visitors learn how Chaco people used the stars for navigation, timekeeping and spiritual guidance.[2]
What Chimney Rock's program organizers say
The Chimney Rock Interpretive Association describes the monument as “a quiet, wonderful place to observe the night sky” away from city lights.[3]
Its 2026 Night Sky program discusses ancient Puebloans' relationship with the sky alongside constellations, galaxies and observable planets. The organizer says the program is held monthly in season, reservations are the only way to guarantee a place, and telescopes may or may not be available, so visitors are encouraged to bring binoculars.[3]
