Colorado Parks and Wildlife lists John Martin Reservoir State Park as open daily from 5am to 10pm.[2]

CPW says its two campgrounds are open year-round. Lake Hasty Campground has 109 sites below the dam with electric hookups, while Point Campground has 104 basic sites on the north shore of the reservoir. Reservations are required.[2]

What that means for stargazing

The direct CPW source does not market John Martin as a dedicated astronomy venue. For this guide, Point Campground remains the most useful field-verification target because it combines legal overnight access with the open reservoir setting. That is a guide inference from the campground layout, not a CPW stargazing recommendation.[2]
