Gunnison Valley Observatory

GVO says its 2026 season runs June 12 through September 5, with public programs on most Friday and Saturday nights plus some Thursdays and Sundays.[2]

A public astronomy talk is family-friendly, generally begins around 9 pm and lasts about 30 minutes. The talk ticket includes the astronomy museum and weather-permitting viewing through smaller outdoor telescopes.[2]

The 30-inch telescope

GVO says a separate Dome Tour ticket is required to view through its 30-inch telescope. It also offers selected Deluxe Dome Tours and small-group Premier Astronomy Nights; Premier nights are limited to 10 people.[3]

The current registration page lists public astronomy talks at $5, dome tours from $5, Deluxe Dome Tours at $25 and Premier Astronomy Nights at $40, with individual dates and availability shown on the live ticket page.[3]

What a normal visit includes

The observatory says visitors can arrive at sunset, explore the astronomy museum, attend the outdoor talk, view through smaller telescopes and join a constellation tour. Guests with Dome Tour tickets then take turns viewing a selected night-sky object through the 30-inch Cassegrain reflector.[4]
