Colorado Stargazing Trail

The Colorado Tourism Office directs after-hours stargazers to the Hornbek Homestead area and highlights periodic programs run with the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society, including telescopes and guided interpretation.[2]

National Park Service

The National Park Service says Florissant Fossil Beds is “an excellent place to enjoy the wonders of the night sky.”[3]

NPS identifies Hornbek Homestead as the designated after-hours viewing area and says its parking lot is open to the public 24 hours a day. During scheduled Night Sky Programs, visitors begin at the Visitor Center and astronomers from the Colorado Springs Astronomical Society provide telescopes and interpretation. The 2026 NPS schedule lists summer and fall events; programs are weather dependent and parking can fill.[3]
