Where a stargazer can actually start

Eleven Mile State Park has posted ordinary day-use hours of 6 a.m.–10 p.m.. For an all-night astronomy session, a registered campsite is the cleanest legal model rather than assuming a Dark Sky or rural setting means unrestricted overnight parking.

Colorado Parks and Wildlife lists Eleven Mile State Park as open daily from 6am to 10pm.^[2]

CPW says the park has 326 campsites and requires reservations for camping. Campers must display a valid vehicle pass, and camping is allowed only in designated areas. Lakeshore campgrounds include picnic tables and year-round vault toilets, while several other services are seasonal.^[2]

What that means for stargazing

CPW does not currently present Eleven Mile as a dedicated astronomy program site on its main visitor page. The source-supported advantage is instead its large camping system in South Park. Because normal park hours end at 10pm, a registered campsite is the most straightforward way to plan observing into the deeper night.^[2]
