Chimney Rock
Chimney Rock describes the monument as “a quiet, wonderful place to observe the night sky” away from city lights.[2]
The program explores ancient Puebloans' relationship with the sky and uses interactive talks to cover constellations, galaxies and planets visible on the specific night. The organizer advises bringing binoculars because telescopes may or may not be available.[2]
September 12 schedule
The final date currently listed in the 2026 series is September 12. Check-in is 7–7:30pm, the program runs 7:30–9:30pm, and the event listing allows until 10pm. Capacity is listed as 60 and tickets are $10–$20.[2]
The organizer says monthly special programs often sell out and that advance booking through its website, call center or Recreation.gov is the only way to guarantee a place.[2]
Current status
The June, July and August dates have passed; September 12 remains upcoming. Use the organizer's live listing for availability and weather-related changes.[2]
