Colorado Parks and Wildlife
Colorado Parks and Wildlife lists Paonia State Park as open daily from 5am to 10pm.[1]
CPW says the park has 20 campsites and requires a reservation to camp. The campgrounds close during winter, with the park's camping season listed as May 1 through September 30 and the park closed from October 1 to May 1. Water is not available at the campground, and only Anthracite Campground has electrical hookups.[1]
Keep the certification distinction clear
The Town of Paonia is the International Dark Sky Community. Paonia State Park is a separate state-park property nearby and should not be presented as though the community certification automatically applies to the park.[1]
The direct CPW source does not currently advertise a dedicated astronomy program at the park. Its practical role in this guide is seasonal overnight camping near the North Fork Valley.[1]
