Colorado Stargazing Trail
The Colorado Tourism Office describes Old Snowmass as a Roaring Fork Valley community surrounded by ranchlands and mountain silhouettes. For stargazing, the trail points toward quiet areas along Watson Divide Road, Owl Creek Road and Capitol Creek Road.[2]

WildSky Old Snowmass says, “Old Snowmass has officially been designated an International Dark Sky Community—the first in the Roaring Fork Valley.”[3]
The organization dates the designation to February 16, 2026 and says its work centers on preserving the area's naturally dark nighttime environment through shielded, ground-directed, low-impact lighting and community education. Its stated mission is to protect Old Snowmass's dark-sky heritage while reducing unnecessary light pollution.[3]
