Colorado Parks and Wildlife lists Highline Lake as an active state park with reservable camping and ordinary day-use hours of 5am–10pm.^[2]

What the current park information does not establish is a strong standalone astronomy identity: there is no standing telescope facility, no distinctive public observing field, no Dark Sky designation and no regular astronomy program that makes the park materially different from many other Colorado campgrounds.^[2]

What the defunct tag means here

DEFUNCT / CAMPING-ONLY FIT means this was removed because “you can camp here and see stars” is too broad a standard for the extended guide. Highline Lake itself remains open and can still be useful to travelers for ordinary camping and recreation.^[2]
