National Park Service

NPS says “Rangers present stargazing programs in spring and summer.” Its current summer guidance similarly says astronomy programs are typically offered when weather permits.[2]

Most recent specific 2026 astronomy event found

Hovenweep held AstroFest on June 7, 2026. NPS scheduled a ranger program from 8:30–9:30pm followed by two telescope stations from 9:30–11pm, including cultural star stories and a tour of the night sky. That event was free and has passed.[3]

Where nighttime use is allowed

NPS is explicit that trails are open sunrise to sunset. Stargazing is allowed from the visitor center parking lot and campground only.[3]

Current status

The park continues to describe astronomy programs as a summer offering, but I did not find a later specific 2026 astronomy date currently published. Check the NPS calendar or visitor center before planning around a ranger program.[3]
