Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad
The railroad calls the experience “A Celestial Journey Through the San Luis Valley.” From Antonito, the train travels to Big Horn, where guests leave the train for sunset and nighttime observing.[2]
The operator says the stop is intended for views of the Milky Way, constellations, planets and deep-sky objects, and specifically invites guests to bring cameras, binoculars or telescopes.[2]
Current 2026 schedule
The live Antonito booking page lists September 20 and October 3, 2026. The September 20 itinerary lists a 6:30 pm departure and an approximately 11:00 pm return, with a sunset and stargazing stop at Big Horn.[3]
The same current booking page lists coach tickets at $235 for adults and $200 for children. Advance booking is through Cumbres & Toltec.[3]
Source note
An older Antonito-specific page still displays the August 15 departure. The current booking page is used here for the later 2026 dates because it is the railroad's active sales page.[4]
