National Park Service
NPS invited visitors to meet at Saddlehorn Picnic Area to explore the night sky “through telescopes and a ranger program.”[1]
The August 14 and 15 programs began at 8pm and lasted one hour. NPS asked visitors to arrive at least ten minutes early to reduce headlight disruption, use a red flashlight when possible, and bring a chair and insect repellent.[1]
Weather and location
The event was held in the parking lot next to Saddlehorn Picnic Area, with overflow parking at Bookcliff View Shelter and the Visitor Center. NPS says the program was weather permitting and could move to the Saddlehorn Amphitheatre if clouds prevented observing.[1]
Current status
The August 14–15, 2026 programs have passed. Keep this page as an archive and wait for a new NPS event listing before presenting another Astronomy Night as upcoming.[1]
