Colorado Stargazing Trail
The Colorado Tourism Office recommends visitors “align with summer stargazing programs sponsored by Friends of Browns Canyon” for expert interpretation.[2]
The trail also identifies Ruby Mountain and Hecla Junction campgrounds as strong dark-sky viewing locations for independent visitors.[2]
What Friends of Browns Canyon currently publishes
Friends of Browns Canyon is actively publishing dark-sky education in 2026, including material about where to stargaze and monthly night-sky information. Its current news and event material checked for this page does not provide a specific future 2026 public stargazing date to promote.[3]
Current status
Do not build a trip around an assumed recurring event. Keep this page on watch until Friends of Browns Canyon publishes a specific date; independent camping and stargazing at appropriately managed recreation sites remain separate options.[3]
